Up to 1 year assignment VP, TBM–Model & Algo Risk Governance, TDS


The Models, Algos, and Tools team within Global Markets G&C is accountable for supporting the business in the design, implementation and sustainment of controls to manage current and emerging risk exposures in the business related to these activities. The team also partners with the business and 2nd line oversight functions as part of the overall Business Control Program for algorithmic trading and owns the process for administering the global algorithmic trading governance committee mandate and operating procedures.

TD has been organically growing its e-trading business over the last few years and recently acquired an external fixed income focused e-trading/algo trading business; and will be expanding its e-trading footprint across all asset classes across multiple regions. Initial focus will be in the Fixed Income space but will also extend into Equities markets.

The successful candidate will support the Director in the review of the risk management framework for Algo trading and play a key role in the completion of the integration activities to onboard the new business into TD, ensuring that the business meets internal and external requirements.

Requirements
• Solid background working in Capital Markets with direct experience in risk identification and management
• Specific knowledge of electronic trading platforms (e.g. ATS', ECNs SEFs, process flows, etc.) and related regulations and industry best practices are an asset
• Understanding of electronic trading flows; and automated trading risks and controls
• Prior model risk and electronic trading risk and governance experience would be assets
• Must be a proactive and quick learner; have strong analytical and problem-solving skills; be detail oriented; demonstrate initiative to follow up on items or determine appropriate steps for timely resolution, possess the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines; be able flexibility to adapt well to changing priorities; have the ability to influence key stakeholders to achieve consensus and meet objectives; and work independently as well as in a team environment
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proactively identify gaps and challenge the status quo, and then develop and implement better solutions
• Experience in project delivery and strategic initiatives would be assets
• Proficient with MS Office Suite, including high-level competency in PowerPoint and Excel with ability to create pivot tables, macros, and presentations
• Position can be in Toronto or New York
Specific activities include:

• Completing a full risk and controls assessment of the business.
• Supporting the review and enhancement of the Algo Trading governance framework to meet the higher levels of sophistication of this e-trading platform to meet internal and external requirements.
• Establishing monitoring and testing program for measuring the business adherence to the Algo Trading governance framework
• Being a key point of contact across a wide and diverse set of stakeholders (e.g. Front Office, model development teams, Model Risk Management, Model Validation) to manage the model documentation and validation activities.
