Head of Product Marketing (US)

The Head of Product Marketing provides vision, leadership and strategic guidance in developing and implementing Company marketing plans and customer communication strategies and initiatives that support the Product Marketing brand strategy and product objectives.

The Head of Product Marketing is recognized outside and inside the Company as an expert representing marketing and brand strategic initiatives. The job is the steward for TD products and services, ensuring they are relevant and compelling to our customers and consistent with the overarching TD brand.

This requires an ability to develop an integrated marketing plan, deep analytical expertise and modern marketing capabilities (digital, martech, etc) with a clear understanding of how marketing investment drives account growth and building deep customer relationships across all channels.

As a people manager, this role is additionally accountable for continuing to grow the Marketing professionals to bring innovation to the business by providing ongoing feedback and performance reviews, coaching and developing employees, ensuring performance management activities are undertaken and providing regular input into employee assessments and development plans to continue to bring innovation to the work produced by the Marketing and portfolio team(s).

Education & Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree required
• 10+ years of related experience in consumer or financial services marketing
• Strategic thinker and planner with progressively responsible experience in product
• marketing
• Experience in developing Integrated Marketing Plans across all Marketing Channels: Paid, Owned, Digital
• Advanced knowledge of multiple marketing disciplines, strategy development, consulting principles, lines of businesses supported, banking industry, and product/customer markets
• Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging competitor and market trends
• Knowledge of risk management environment, standards and regulations
• Ability to contribute to strategic direction of the function and provide advice to senior leadership
• Ability to forecast initiatives and demand in order to develop annual strategic plan
• Skill in managing budgets, P&L and resource allocation
• Advanced ability to lead, plan, implement and evaluate program/project activities to ensure completion of product initiatives
• Demonstrated business acumen – understanding business from the ground-up and the key levers that will deliver superior results
• History of making an impact, developing and executing on strategies and delivering superior results in both the short and long term
• Proven leadership – both the ability to effectively work in teams across an organization with multiple stakeholders and to influence and align others
• Management experience at a senior level

  • • Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required
    • Oversees the successful design of marketing plans or customer-centric programs and relevant project plans, incorporating full range of marketing resources and distribution channels
    • Determines and acts on long-term marketing and customer strategies to ensure they are effectively supporting the business line needs across Consumer, Commercial and Wealth businesses
    • Builds and maintains close relationships with senior business partners; Ensures ongoing successful communication of strategic direction of the marketing plans; acts as a key integrator/liaison between business lines, enterprise and marketing department, influencing and negotiating options to enable the achievement of successful and profitable marketing campaigns
    • Develops and executes marketing plans and creative briefs; Is committed to continuous learning, ensuring it is included within programs developed and is culturally engrained as an expected business practice; Continually monitors and tracks the success and effectiveness of marketing plan/campaigns as well as customer strategies and programs. Communicates results to the senior business partners
    • Acts as a strategic partner to leadership team on the management of the portfolio and financials, with deep industry, external/internal, enterprise knowledge, recognizing and anticipating emerging trends and identifying operational efficiencies and opportunities with other business management/enterprise areas
    • Determines and implements the best creative and media options to market products and services, meeting business, brand and customer needs
    • Develops and manages the marketing calendar and oversees the successful and seamless execution of deliverables, ensuring established processes are followed, appropriate resources dedicated and a consistently high level of professionalism is maintained
    • Runs journey based marketing teams embedded in journey based teams and brings the value of our full marketing organization back to the business/journey teams; helps guide best operating model for marketing effectiveness and efficiency for the future
    • Drives analytical thinking and modern marketing understanding to drive transformational business growth and maintains clear scorecards across marketing metrics, business metrics in partnership with business leaders
    • Responsible for the marketing program budget of the Consumer Product portfolio. Determines the effective disbursement of overall budget to ensure business objectives can be achieved. Ensures maximum profitability via project reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of programs, ensuring budgets are reconciled, stated goals are achieved and learnings are well-documented and communicated to senior business partners
    • Champions change management across the Company. Continuously consults with business partners and staff, seeking opportunities for improvement in marketing planning. Educates and advises business partners on current marketing issues, brand strategy, execution standards and leading-edge industry trends
