Sr DB2/AIX Administrator


The DB2 / AIX Environment Management role participates in the design, installation, monitoring, maintenance, and performance tuning of DB2/AIX hosted data warehouse databases while ensuring high levels of data availability. Provides support required for audit, security and attestation assessments for a shared platform with AIX and DB2 and multiple tenant applications. Organizes and drives patching and upgrade events recommended for database or operating system. Provide consultation for implementing a replicated Disaster Recovery database to augment the Production environment. Participate in the implementation of database level encryption and other risk control items as identified. Implement and maintain/monitor daily database backups and monthly capacity utilization reporting for Sr Management presentation. Responsible for ensuring sound configuration management of system and application settings. Participate in application design configurations and specify firewall requirements to be implemented by Network teams. Evaluate, specify and request security and access setup. Provide leadership and technical expertise to on-going problem identification and resolution and root cause analysis process for application and system issues in coordination with Infrastructure Technology Teams. Requires the ability to be able to quickly learn the platform and how it is used (technical and business level understanding) and an understanding of the largest applications. Also requires good organizational skills, can work independently with good verbal and written communication. Leads and coordinates the operational support and implementation activities for AIX/DB2 platform and provides consultation, documentation and coordination of remediation plans for audit and security gaps.

  • Undergraduate Degree or Technical Certificate.
  • Graduate Degree preferred.
  • 11+ years relevant experience.
  • Expert knowledge of the technical environment/ tools for your own area.
  • Expert knowledge of business processes and procedures, as well as broader organizational issues and technology.

  • AIX /DB2 3 years+ (functional understanding)

    OS and Database patching and upgrade experience with understanding of CVE vulnerability remediation (3 years)

    Strong communications skills (verbal and written)

    Ability to learn quickly

    Unix scripting and automation of management tasks (3 years)
    Implementing, updating, and monitoring database and system backups (3 years)
    Experience with troubleshooting system and application failures, coordination of remediation efforts, and communication with internal and external support teams (3 years)
    Experience planning, coordinating, and managing changes in a controlled environment (3 years)
